About IDAIA
IDAIA is a French-Australian social enterprise dedicated to promoting and supporting contemporary Indigenous Australian art.
Founded in 2008 in Sydney, IDAIA strives to develop the visibility and appreciation of Indigenous Australian art towards international audiences, and to support Aboriginal artists and cooperatives, notably via:
- organising exhibitions and educational events ;
- selling artworks and objects ethically-sourced from official Aboriginal artist cooperatives ;
- informing about the Indigenous Australian art scene and sector ;
- developing collaborations aimed at contributing to the cultural and economic empowerment of Aboriginal artists and communities.
IDAIA is a member of the Indigenous Art Code, the Australian organisation establishing standards for dealings between dealers and artists to ensure fair and ethical trade in art and transparency in the process of promotion and sales. IDAIA’s Founder and Director Solenne Ducos-Lamotte was a Board Director from 2013 to 2017.
Since 2018, IDAIA has also been established in France as a social enterprise.
