Screening of the film "Namatjira Project" followed by a panel discussion at the Australian Embassy in Paris
Namatjira Project is an Australian documentary film directed by Big hART starring the Namatjira family, released in Australia in August 2017.
Deeply moving and praised for its sense of collaboration and generosity, the film documents the iconic story of the Namatjira family, tracing their quest to reclaim the copyrights to their grandfather's works, from the remote Australian desert to the opulence of Buckingham Palace.
The follow-up screening will be followed by a panel discussion and a Q&A session with the following speakers:
- Alex Kelly – Australian director and producer, representing Big hART
- Greta Morton-Elangué – Director of the Australian Aboriginal Film Festival
- Georges Petitjean – Curator, writer and researcher, specialist in Australian indigenous art
- Solenne Ducos-Lamotte – Director of IDAIA (moderator)
An event organized by IDAIA and Big hART in collaboration with the Australian Embassy in France; in partnership with the Australian Aboriginal Film Festival in Paris, the Iltja Ntjarra Aboriginal Art Center and the Namatjira Legacy Trust; and in association with the exhibition of artists Namatjira “ Tjuritja Nana Mara to Paris ” at Galerie IDAIA Paris.
