Exhibition "Drawing of the territory - Territory of the drawing"

July 10 - September 3, 2021, LE HAVRE.

An exceptional collaborative project between Le Havre artist Patrice Balvay and a collective of Aboriginal women artists from the community of Haasts Bluff in the central desert of Australia.

As part of the event " Le Havre, Australian stopover " organized by the city of Le Havre, the French artist Patrice Balvay and a collective of Aboriginal women artists are producing two series of panoramic works in parallel, forming a unique installation.

These works are a topographical, symbolic and emotional transcription - on the model of the Aboriginal "dream" - of an experience of two territories: the city of Le Havre and the Australian desert.

The two series of works, 7 drawings and 7 paintings, are exhibited face to face in the Hanging Gardens in cell 10.

Patrice Balvay explains: "The depth of the cell, its mineral surface and its openness to natural light evoke rock shelters, former privileged places of painting in Australia. The unique work on offer resonates with the imaginations of artists from both hemispheres, linked by their intimate link with the territory as a living space. The exhibition offers a wandering and an immersion in the materiality of the drawing, a journey between two universes, which look at each other, extend, dialogue, to form a single one world, ours."

A project initiated by Patrice Balvay, organized in collaboration with IDAIA and the Ikuntji artists' cooperative in Haasts Bluff, in partnership with the City of Le Havre, and with the support of SIFA Logistics.
